Lineup
BigPhallica
The world’s biggest rock band, Bigphallica, have confirmed they will break a year-long hiatus to fly into Sydney for a one-night-only appearance in aid of Sound School Rwanda. After successfully suing many inferior acts such as Metallica, Guns ‘n Roses and AC/DC for copyright infringement, the mega-rich band is ready to blow their phans away with their special brand of big hair, big metal, big appendage act. Lead singer Phallus Bullpoon said “We put the cock into rock and anywhere else it’ll fit. Like ear holes.” These hell rockers play all the best rock you can imagine with all the energy of the original rock bands you know and love. Fully costumed and extremely talented on their axes, Guitar synths and drums, these die hard fans of real rock and roll deliver a stadium worthy spectacle wherever they perform. www.bigphallica.com.au |
Steve Paoli
Steve Paoli is one of Sydney’s foremost guitarists with over ten years of musical expertise in all styles of music from Rock and Pop to Metal, Blues, even Classical and Baroque. In the past, Steve has worked with musicians from Australian bands The Hoodoo Gurus, The Divynls and The Whitlams, as well as Production and management team members from the winners of the 1999 reality television series Popstars, Bardot and the 2003 Australian idol winner and runner up Guy Sebastian and Shannon Noll. Steve’s lightning fast guitar playing combines melodic elements of his favorite classical and Baroque composers such as J.S Bach, W.A Mozart and Niccolo Pagannini with the heavy metal greats such as Whitesnake, Dokken, Firehouse, Yngwie Malmsteen and Joe Lynn Turner to create a heavy, brain melting Neo-Classical Metal sound that is still commercial enough for your mother to enjoy! http://www.myspace.com/stevepaoli http://www.youtube.com/stevepaolimusic | If you want to play like Steve he can teach you how, well it wouldn’t be SoundSchool if we didn’t offer you all a chance to learn to play too. Contact Steve at stevepaoli@gmail.com to find out more.

Groove Terminator (Tonite Only)
As one of the most respected and influential DJ’s in Australia with 20yrs experience under the (not so serious) moniker, Groove Terminator started out playing punk, hiphop and electro on his radio show in the early 80’s as a teenager then fell in love with acid and the early Chicago house sounds coinciding with the arrival of 1988’s Summer Of Love. Signed to Virgin/EMI in 1997 and has so far, released 2 full length artist albums picking up several ARIA nominations including best male artist along the way. He may or may not be playing a unique 'Rock influenced' set for us on this night. http://www.myspace.com/grooveterminator |

Cause
About the Imbabazi: The Imbabazi Orphanage was founded by an American woman, Rosamond (Roz) Carr, in the wake of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Rwanda was Roz’s home for over 50 years. Since opening, the orphanage has been home to nearly 500 children. Today, the orphanage has responsibility for 91 children. Operations are lead by an international board of directors and the onsite management team.
The orphanage provides a loving environment for the children to grow and develop emotionally, socially, and cognitively. Our focus is on education and helping the children gain the necessary skills for independent living, such as English training, computer skills, and life skills. SoundSchool strives to continue Roz’s vision and legacy with the added value of music.
I can only surmise that God didn’t feel I was ready to have children until I was 82 years old. Then he sent me forty all at once.” ~ Excerpt from Land of a Thousand Hill. “Rwanda is my home and it is here that I intend to spend the rest of my days. Its beauty is my inspiration. Its struggles have been my struggles. Its grief has been my deepest sorrow. Its people are my strength, and its children are my greatest joy.” ~ Excerpt from Land of a Thousand Hills
Rosamond Carr was awarded the 2001 Hublot Prize in Switzerland for her humanitarian work with the children of Rwanda. She was a grand prize winner of the 2004 Volvo for Life Awards. http://www.imbabazi.org/
The orphanage is situated at the foothills of the Virunga volcanoes, home to the famous, rare Mountain Gorillas made famous by the 1988 film 'Gorillas in the Mist' (this was the inspiration for this years poster art).
